Abstract :
The design of a microstrip patch antenna combined with electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structure/artificial magnetic conductors (AMC) in order to obtain bandwidth enhancement is presented. MoM simulations used to design and analyze the performance of the embedded structures are shown whereas for designing the unit cell, the finite element metod (FEM) is used. The prototypes are manufactured and characterized in terms of return loss, gain and radiation pattern in an anechoic chamber.
