Abstract :
The active directional attenuators (ADA) are devices with attenuation dependent on a direction of propagation of RF energy. A new type of the directional attenuator has been developed, designed and tested. The advantages of the active directional attenuators are low cost, wideband, constant attenuation in backward direction and amplification in forward direction. The attenuation of designed active directional attenuator in backward direction is 13 dB and the gain in forward direction is 5 dB. The ADA have been developed for frequency band from 5.47 to 5.875 GHz, e.g. for wireless local area networks according to standards IEEE 802.11a/g/n and for a 5 GHz band of the Short Range Devices (SRD).
