Abstract
By experiment, this paper studies the responsiveness of layered multicast and feedback control for video traffic in reacting to network congestion over the Internet. We examine the influence of the responsiveness on the performance in our lip synchronization experimental system, where video and voice streams are multicast under controllable traffic and delay conditions. The paper also demonstrates the possibility of performance improvement by using the two techniques together. This scheme tries to solve the problem of large leave latency in layered multicast by taking advantage of the quickness in feedback control
