Abstract :
Energy saving can be realized in electrical appliances and electric vehicles by reducing the power consumed by their motors, which operate at variable speeds. To reduce the energy consumption of electrical appliances, flux-weakening currents that reduce the voltage at high speed leads to significant copper and core losses. Therefore, we developed a new technique that changes the number of poles and machine constants in a permanent magnet motor based on speed. In this paper, we propose a novel motor that changes the poles and machine constants and also explain its principles and basic characteristics. The results show that the permanent magnet motor can vary the induced voltage from 53% to 100%, and can reduce the core loss by 21%. Our analysis results prove that the novel motor can change the pole and motor constants, and can be utilized in variable-speed drive systems for high performance and efficiency.
