Abstract :
London Electricity prepared a functional specification and placed an order for a control room graphics and information system (CRGIS) in 1988 which is now installed in London. The aim of the system is to replace the existing large wall diagrams with high resolution graphic displays coupled with an online computer database containing the current operational state of the distribution network. CRGIS presents to the control engineers colour diagrams of the London Electricity distribution network, full pan and zoom facilities, automatic diagram dressing, document generation facilities and access to plant information. The system database contains information relating to some eleven thousand five hundred substations, the plant contained within them and the cables connecting them
