Abstract :
The fabrication and optical characterisation of gold nanodiscs on a z-cut lithium niobate subtrate. The linear optical properties of the samples were studied means of transmission spectroscopy. FDTD-simulations predict a field enhancement strongly localized at the edges of the gold nanostructures leading to a near-field interaction with the nonlinear substrate and consequently to an enhanced second harmonic response.
