Abstract
This paper explains a design and the comparison of two multi-disc permanent magnet motor. The actuator must provide answers to the volume constraint and torque. This application is employed in land transport for aeronautical field. The axial flux motors become interesting when obtaining large surfaces of air-gap with the traditional machines is no possible. Indeed, surfaces of air-gap are more important in comparison with a radial flux machine, and, in a given volume, they allow to obtain a higher torque. After having shown the multi-air gap structure, we describe the design method from elementary cells. That´s why two types the disc-type motor were selected. This paper clearly shows the efficient topology of a disc-type multi-air gap machine.
