Abstract
The increasing complexity of power system operation the need for efficient operational planning/analysis tools and the requirement for quality training of new staff within reduced time scales have promoted the need for advanced despatcher training simulators. The authors outline a despatcher training simulator (DTS) system implemented by Westinghouse Systems Limited. The DTS system is based on standard products of ESCA Corporation of Bellevue, USA and standard products from Westinghouse Systems Limited. The DTS design, which uses a client-server approach for information exchange between subsystems is described. The implementation aspects on total energy control system projects on incremental projects and on stand alone implementations are considered
