Abstract :
In this work, in order to reveal the role of the multipolar contribution to the mesoscale second-order optical nonlinearity, we present tensorial analysis of coherent second-harmonic (SH) generation from L-shaped gold nanoparticles. Our experimental method is based on the differences between the radiative properties of electric dipoles and higher multipoles. Our preliminary results indicate that, with our experimental conditions, about 20% of the magnitude of the SH response for certain polarization configurations has multipolar origins.
