Abstract :
A horizontally polarized omnidirectional loop antenna using segmented line configuration is proposed. The utilization of the coupled line section to configure the segmented loop antenna makes the current along the loop antenna keeping in phase and flowing in a single direction. Therefore, the antenna produces horizontally polarized omnidirectional radiation. The antenna prototype printed onto an FR4 printed circuit board (PCB) with overall size of 50 mm × 50 mm × 0.5 mm shows desirable performance over the frequency range of 2.35-2.55 GHz: return loss of larger than 10-dB, maximum gain of 2 dBi, and omnidirectivity of less than ± 2 dB.
