Abstract :
The performance of a 2.45 GHz printed Inverted-F Antenna (IFA) has been studied on a metallic environment. The concept of clearance distance has been introduced as the minimum distance from the antenna to a metal plate which satisfies specific constraints for radiation efficiency and matching bandwidth. Inductance and capacitance values for a reconfigurable matching network have also been proposed which will allow to reduce the antenna-metal distance by 40%.
