Abstract :
We introduce in this paper a very simple configuration of focal array fed lens (FAFL) antennas for beam shaping applications. In contrast to previous works where the synthesized elliptical lens was illuminated by a linear array with a complex beam forming network, we show here that similar performance can be achieved using a much simpler array configuration without any optimization of the array weight coefficients. This leads to higher antenna efficiency.
