Abstract
When the LMI formulations for mixed structured singular value analysis is extended to robust synthesis, it leads to nonlinear matrix inequalities (NMI), and under certain conditions bilinear matrix inequalities (BMI), a special case of NMI. In this paper an improved continuation algorithm for the solution of NMI, which requires the solution of a series of LMI, is proposed. The use of this algorithm is illustrated by designing a fixed-structure robust controller for a benchmark problem
