Abstract :
This paper describes work in developing a system to automatically generate robot programs in components insertion tasks for PCB (printed circuit board), with the input of CAD files describing the lay-out of the robotic cell and some information files. The system does not (yet) deal with path planning or collision avoidance, it only determines the coordinates to be programmed-which takes a lot of unproductive time-and the interference between components in insertion due to the gripper. The program generated has only main routines to pick and place components, the sequence of insertion and has no flow of control and sensor routines. This can lead to a more flexible way to programming a robot
