Abstract
This paper is a methodological contribution to characterize two kinds of models that should be used in a complete optimization process of energy conversion systems like motors or actuators. We will introduce the concepts of "sizing model" and "optimization model." We will also show how to use them in a design process to produce optimal result that we will concatenate in “an optimal design graph.” All those methodological results will be illustrated on the optimal design of a set of two permanent magnet generators sharing the same cross section to reduce the manufacturing cost.
