Abstract :
This paper introduces a new buck topology, whose features are zero voltage and zero current switching, operation at constant frequency, regulation by pulse width modulation and low RMS current stresses on active devices. The main goal of this topology when compared with the classical ZVS-PWM one is the ability to work with a wide load range. In hard load it works like the conventional ZVS, for light load it works with very small commutation losses. Complete analysis and design procedure are included. A prototype unit of 400 W (40 V, 10 A), operating at 100 kHz is fully implemented and tested to verify the feasibility of the proposed converter topology
