Abstract :
An intravascular OCT system is described for simultaneous acquisition of backscatter, polarization, and spectroscopic images from coronary arteries. Preliminary experiments were carried out to test the performance of the system in tissue phantoms and in excised arteries. Images displaying measurements of fibrous tissue content and water content in diseased lesions are presented. The results encourage further development of multi-modality OCT imaging for clinical application.
