Abstract
A high frequency model is developed for large synchronous machines. The object is to find the native response to a sinusoidal excitation. The model is used in conjunction with design data from a large synchronous machine to examine Electromagnetic Signature Analysis (EMSA) measurements. In this way, the internal resonances caused by the machine dimensions and materials can be identified. This will be useful in interpreting the EMSA results so that, for example, resonances are not confused with signatures originating from discharges in the stator insulation structure.
