Abstract :
This paper provides a novel formulation of electromagnetic scattering from a lamellar grating with a defect. The periodicity of structure is locally collapsed and the Floquet theorem cannot be directly applied. The pseudo-periodic Fourier transform is used to make the field components pseudo-periodic, and the scattering problem is formulated by the rigorous coupled-wave method with the use of Li´s Fourier factorization rules.
