Abstract :
This study examined the pressure between the radius and ulna within the distal radioulnar joint using Fuji Prescale Pressure Sensitive Film (Fuji Photo Film Co. Ltd., Tokyo, Japan). The film was calibrated prior to a series of mechanical experiments. Contact area and load were recorded on intact cadaver wrists with passive movements in different positions. In the second series of experiments tensile and compressive loads were applied to the hand in normal position of the forearm. Results indicate that the articular pressure between radius and ulna increases as a result of increasing the applied force in both tensile and compression tests
