Abstract
The problem of noninteracting control with asymptotic stability in the first approximation has been dealt with for a class of square nonlinear Hamiltonian systems with m inputs and m outputs. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the solvability of the problem have been given, which are easier to check than the conditions previously available in the literature (which are valid for general nonlinear systems). The proposed conditions are an extension of the main result of Astolfi and Menini (2000) to square Hamiltonian systems having an arbitrary number of outputs
