Abstract :
The growing spectrum scarcity might call for the use of single-carrier and multicarrier communication systems with reduced redundancy as an alternative to classical orthogonal frequency-division multiplex (OFDM) and single-carrier with frequency-domain equalization (SC-FD) systems. The expected benefit is the higher data throughput compared to OFDM and SC-FD systems. In recent years some methods to implement computationally efficient structures for transceivers with reduced redundancy have been proposed, however, no works addressing the effects of the Doppler spread on these solutions had been discussed. This work studies how the Doppler spread affects the performance of block transceivers with reduced redundancy, and discusses how the bit error rate might be increased under these circumstances. Simulation results illustrate the behavior of the high data-throughput transceivers in communication environments with time-varying channels.
