Abstract :
This paper describes a new antenna design, which extends significantly the lower frequency range available, whilst maintaining a good Standing Wave Ratio (SWR) figure at higher GHz frequencies. A good response at lower frequencies as well as a wideband is important for Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) applications, as it is these frequencies which permit the detection of buried objects at greater depths, and under adverse operating conditions of high soil conductivity and attenuation.
