Abstract
This paper presents a minimal description for pH processes. The model is strictly based in the physical balance equations of mass and charge. Observability conditions for the unknown influent and re-agent concentrations inside a continuously stirred tank reactor (CSTR) are derived. Based on these observability conditions and monoprotic simplification, a minimal description for the solution inside a CSTR is derived, setting the bases for the design of a closed loop observer for pH processes
