Abstract :
This paper describes the design and measurement of a circularly polarised dual-band antenna panel as part of a low-profile Ka-band satellite user terminal antenna intended for truly mobile bi-directional emergency communications at 20 and 30 GHz. The compact antenna panel features interlaced radiating apertures for both operating frequencies, applying a double-layer partially reflective surface (PRS), and it offers high radiation efficiency due to its low-loss waveguide-feeding technique. The dual-band PRS with a physical aperture of 60 mm by 200 mm was implemented and tested. Numerical simulations and measurement results agree with each other and are presented in this publication.
