Abstract :
Single phase linear PM oscillo-motors of various topologies, connected at power grid or inverter fed, have been proposed (some already in use) for small refrigerator compressor drives in an effort to increase total efficiency for limited initial costs. This paper introduces and analyzes a small power (25 W) linear PM oscillo-motor destined to a desktop computer, laptop or the like. From topology to a general design model and an optimization design code, through FEM validations to control dynamics model, the paper investigates the proposed solution, with promising results such as: more than 74% efficiency for 60 grams total active material weight at 270 Hz and ±3 mm motion excursion.
