Abstract :
One of the main objectives in this paper is to discuss the development of efficient on-body RFID tag and sensor antennas which could be seamlessly integrated into clothing. Embroidery manufacturing methods for textile RFID tag and sensor antennas are explored and the on-body performances of novel sewed antenna designs are characterized. This study focuses on analyzing the on-body read range performance of the proposed sewed fabric tags. In addition, possible modeling approaches of tag antennas fabricated with conductive threads and embroidery techniques will be presented. This paper shows that conductive threads and embroidery techniques can be used to produce compact on-body garment-integrated antennas for wearable RFID and sensor systems. Antenna parameters, such as input impedance, can be controlled with defined stitching techniques.
