Abstract
The authors describe a technique used to apply object oriented programming (OOP) to the design of an integrated energy management system (IEMS) by the Power Research Group at the University of Calgary. The architecture of the IEMS is briefly outlined. Each component of the system is then discussed in more detail with attention being placed on the potential for exploitation of OOP technology
