Abstract :
We apply a simple method to reduce the truncation errors for broad beamwidth antennas in the planar near-field measurements where a photonic sensor is used as a probe. The method utilizes the merit that the photonic sensor can be very close to the antenna aperture. For an antenna with broad beamwidth (60 degrees for 3 dB beamwidth), the method can reduce the ripple from the truncation error to within 0.2 dB at 2 GHz.
