  • Abstract
The global demand for high-quality, often academic content and education services is increasing. Universities are faced with a growth in student numbers while companies are looking for training opportunities for their employees. Electronic learning is seen as an instrument to foster the exchange of educational services between academia and industry, to support life-long learning scenarios and to bring education offers to the workplace and into everyday life. In this context, PPNs are an innovative form of organising academic-oriented learning scenarios by the use of ICT for teaching and learning in higher education as well as for academic training in companies. This article illustrates some recommendations for the economically oriented construction of partnerships between partners from academic and private institutions to exchange knowledge, educational services, and learning/teaching products. PPNs are highlighted as an organisational concept for the creation of value for all partners involved.
