Abstract
The possibility to use shorted circular micros trip antenna as an applicator for local hyperthermia is described in this paper. This applicator is designed to provide a local treatment on areas located on the body surface or in its proximity. The applicator is designed by aid of 3D electromagnetic field simulator SEMCAD X light at working frequency of 434 MHz. Results of impedance matching measurement and 3D SAR distributions in agar phantom show that these types of microwave applicators can be effectively used for the treatment of tumours with a diameter of approximately 4 cm.
