Abstract :
A partial-shape recognition technique for polygonal objects is described. Local shape features that are based on a polygonal approximation to the contour of the objects are extracted. Shape recognition is achieved by comparing an unknown object with the members of a library of known objects. This comparison requires finding the best matching sequence of local feature pairs for each known and unknown, a task that is accomplished by a best-first search. Experimental results are presented and discussed
