Abstract
The absorption characteristics of a monolithic polarization diversity side-illuminated photodetector are investigated through the propagating beam analysis. The photodetector is found to maintain high absorption of 90% for the TE and TM modes with a short detector section length of 17μm at a wavelength of 1.523μm.
