Abstract :
The metrological traceability of meteorological measurements has become a mandatory requirement after the signing of the CIPM* MRA [1] by the World Meteorological Organization. Starting from the traceability requirement, a network of meteorological stations located in urban areas has been designed in order to obtain measurements useful for the energy balance determination. The chance of deciding which type of sensors to use, which QC/QA procedures to take, how to configure the database without any constraints of adapting to existing stations and facilities, has also made easier the task of controlling the vast amount of real time measured data from the new meteorological network. The network, named "Climate Network", has already 12 stations working in the province of Milan; it will consist of about 80 stations throughout the country within 3-5 years. The following presentation explains the "Climate Network" design criteria and the first results of the QC/QA activities.
