Abstract :
The problem of simulating communication networks under nonstationary conditions is considered. The critical issues in simulating the nonstationary behavior, such as determining appropriate performance measures, calculating confidence intervals, and selecting initial conditions, are discussed and approaches to their solutions are proposed. To illustrate some of the issues, results for the problem of determining the transient response of a finite M/M/1 queue are presented
