Abstract
In active vibration control the vibration of any structure can be minimized by giving force in the opposite direction to the structure. Now a day´s active vibration control is commonly being used in naval vessel, submarine, aircraft, helicopter blade, automobile, etc. In this project a smart beam (steel beam) with a thick film of piezoelectric patch is laminated, is used to study the variation in the tip´s deflections with the voltage applied on the patch of the cantilever beam. In the present study, a micro-cantilever beam is taken and the variation of the free end tip´s deflections with the variation in the applied voltage is studied. Here piezoelectric patch is taken as PZT-5H type. The study uses simulation software package for simulation purpose of the piezoelectric cantilever beam. Extensive numerical results and simulation results were presented showing the effects of voltage on the piezo patch as a parameter with free end tip´s deflections.
