  • Abstract
This paper presents multiple benefits of restructuring and distribution network as well as placement of distributed generators (DG) in the distribution network. Reconfiguration of distribution network is the process of varying the topological structure of the distribution feeders by changing the open/ closed status of the sectionalizing and tie switches. The purpose of DG placement is to provide small generating units generally operated by non-conventional energy sources at consumer end. There are number of approaches and methods (conventional, analytical, heuristic, and meta-heuristic) for restructuring of distribution network and for siting and sizing of DG.
