Abstract
We report on a fast method for calibration of the gain of photomultiplier and electronics. The gain was determined by the analysis of fluctuations of the signal in a fast ADC at constant PMT illumination. The theoretical description including the effect of analogue filters are derived and compared to the results of measurements. Possible errors in the calibration induced by background and drifts are discussed and analyzed.
