Abstract
In this work, a family of multifunctional metamaterial-inspired antennas are designed, realized and measured. The basic structure consists of an inductor-loaded parasitic strip introduced into the near field region of a monopole antenna. Three antennas are studied by considering one, two and three lumped inductors, respectively. Simulated and measured results show that a multi-inductor parasitic element has two main effects on the antenna properties: first, it generates new resonance frequencies and second, it enhances the bandwidth of the first and main resonance.
