Abstract :
The "High Voltage Association Student Excellence Award" was established in May 2008 to recognize the contributions made by a graduate student in the high voltage systems and components research & technology. The award is financially sponsored by the High Voltage Association, formed by several companies who have products and research in high voltage systems and components. The sponsorship carries an honorarium and partial reimbursement of conference/travel expenses of the student to the conference. The award was presented to a student for the first time at the 2008 Power Modulator Conference. The companies represented by the HVA are Ultravolt Inc., Stangenes Industries Inc., HVR Advance Power Components, Diversified Technologies, Inc. General Atomics Electronics Systems, and Dean Technology, Inc. Nominees for the awards are expected to be current students or recent graduates (up to 18 months prior to the conference date) and be members of IEEE at the time of the award nomination/presentation. They will be expected to participate in the conference and included in the authorship of a paper or papers accepted for presentation at the conference. This year\´s recipient of the High Voltage Association Student Excellence Award is Fahd Banakhr from Loughborough University.
