Abstract
A phase conjugator, based on the Envelope Elimination and Restoration (EER) technique, is proposed in this paper. Taking advantage of the TM10, TM01 and TM20 modes of an orthogonal dual-feed slot-coupled square patch, together with the conversion gain modulation capability of drain-controlled active gate mixers, the retrodirective transmission of modern wireless modulation formats, upon the reception of an interrogating pilot, is made possible, without requiring a complex local oscillator (LO) distribution network.
