Abstract :
A drag plate single sided linear induction motor (DP-SLIM) has been investigated. The Fourier transform model has been developed considering saturation and skin effect in the back iron. The flux dependent relative permeability of back iron that is required in the Fourier transform model has been obtained using FEM analysis. Performance characteristics at slip and at slip frequency have been reported for composite secondary, multi layer and drag plate SLIMs. The purpose of this paper is to analyze DP-SLIM from the viewpoint of its suitability for different applications.
