Abstract
A high gain patch antenna design with a novel type of a left-handed materials (LHM) antenna planar radome is presented. The metamaterial radome is formed by a new shape of resonator, “M-shaped”, whose permeability (μ) and permittivity (ε) are simultaneously negative at 5.8 GHz, and has designed for antenna applications. This structure is placed above the 1×2 array of microstrip patch. Simulations and measures results have shown a good agreement. It was verified that the radome LHM increases the antenna gain more than 3dB and keeps the circular polarization of antenna.
