Abstract
In this paper, the relationship between arc voltage and arc current, the influence of gap distance on arc noise and the relationship between arc voltage and main shield voltage are measured on a 63 kV/40 kA vacuum interrupter with a coil-axial magnetic field. The influence of breaking current on arc characteristics is also measured and the experimental results are analysed
