Abstract :
In power distribution system, distribution static compensator (DSTATCOM) is used to improve quality of power delivered. This paper presents the application of DSTATCOM for brushless motor drives to enhance power quality in the system. In general, Non- linear loads like motor drives induces non-identical terminal voltage at point of common coupling and source currents. The models presented in this paper are modeled having less DC link voltage rating still not affecting the ability of compensation when non-linear loads like brushless drives are connected to the network. Simulation studies are carried out using matlab/simulink and the results shown proves the performance of the system when non-linear loads are connected.
