Abstract
The design criteria of new high voltage cables generating very low magnetic field levels are described. The new doubled shielded cables have the inner screen made of copper and the outer one realized by a ferromagnetic sheath. The design procedure requires the thermal analysis of the cables, the simulation of the three-phase "green" line for the prediction of the power losses, the computation of the generated magnetic induction profiles at ground plane. The performances of a 150 kV buried cable line are presented.
