Abstract
A strategy based on a genetic algorithm (GA) for the synthesis of adaptive thinned arrays is presented in this paper aimed to receive a desired signal maximizing the signal-to-noise-plus-interference ratio (SINR). Nulls or very-low sidelobes are placed in the directions of the interferences. Moreover, additional constraints on the number of active elements are considered to obtain a desired directivity. A set of preliminary results is reported to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
