Abstract :
A time-domain simulation program is developed for use in the analysis of transmission lines in computer and data transmission systems. The program divides a transmission line into L-section segments and, using Kirchoff´s voltage and current laws and the computed capacitance and inductance per unit length, simulates the traveling wave on the basis of state variable mode. The coefficients of the system matrix are expanded in this program to include the resistance of the lines and the conductance of the dielectric medium. Also, the sparsity of the system matrix is exploited using the L-U decomposition technique to speed up the computation and reduce memory requirement
