Abstract :
With the proliferation of data grids, tremendous amounts of data are being distributed and stored at data centers. To ensure availability of storage, reserving space at these data centers becomes essential. Considering this necessity, in this paper, we discuss the advance reservation and scheduling of storage space. We define a model for scheduling advance reservations requests and compare various reservation techniques. We show in our experimental results that using the worst-fit reservation technique is better for both lowering the blocking probability and increasing storage space utilization.
