Abstract
For years, many of the "power pools" such as PJM had hierarchical architectures for AGC while other parts of North America had individual company control area implementations. With emerging deregulation, some ISO/RTOs perform direct control (CAISO) and others direct generation owners to perform the closed loop control of the units (ERGOT). This panel presentation summarizes the AGC structures being used and planned for various ISO/RTOs. The following is typical of the information that are presented: CAISO, ERCOT, MISO, ISONE, PJM, NYISO.
